The
Story
Spanning over 20 years, Voice of the Bulldogs first began in 2000, when our director, Ray Seggern spent a day documenting the life of Marcus Lindemann. Marcus, who had embodied the booming voice of the Bartlett Bulldogs, served as the beloved stadium announcer for the community for over 50 years. He was a local legend who represented not only the spirit of the tight knit community but also the enduring pride and tradition that bound generations of Bartlett residents together.
This project, born from that one unforgettable day of filming, sat on the shelf for nearly two decades, overshadowed by life’s twists and turns. It wasn’t until Ray rediscovered the footage, years after Marcus had passed away, that he decided to pick up where he left off and finish what he had started. What began as a simple documentary about a hometown hero has grown into something much more profound–a tribute to the voices and memories that have defined the city of Bartlett, both then and now.
As the film shifts from the past to the present, we witness Bartlett’s evolution over the past 20 years. A community, like most, dedicated to keeping balance between tradition and innovation. The story transitions from the immortal voice of Marcus Lindemann’s to the new generation of voices that are carrying the town forward today. These individuals, each with their own dreams and visions, are writing the next chapter in Bartlett’s story, ensuring that the community's legacy endures even as it grows and changes.
Voice of the Bulldogs is more than a high school football film—at its core it's a love letter, a postcard across time. With nostalgia seeping through every frame, this film is a celebration of Small Town, USA, a showcase of its enduring spirit from past to present and what it means to keep its stories alive.
